Can donors choose to pay processing fees?

RallyMe provides the option for contributors to cover the service and credit card transaction fees associated with online fundraising. This means that 100% of a pledged contribution will go directly to the athlete, team or cause!

At checkout, a contributor simply enters the amount they would like to contribute (or they choose the contribution level or swag), then check the box for Cover Fee

What is the Fee?

The RallyMe platform fee is 5%. The payment processor, Stripe, charges 2.9% + .30c per transaction on the total amount processed. So, for example, the fees on a $100 contribution are $8.20. The total amount being processed is $108.20, so Stripe must charge the cc processing fee on that amount - therefore the contributor pays $108.90 in total. Then, $100 is deposited directly into the Rallier's bank account.

The total amount that a contributor gives — whether or not they choose to Cover Fees — is always reflected in the Rally page total. When a donor chooses to Cover Fees and the amount has cents, the total contributed on your Rally page will always show the total raised as either rounded up or down to the nearest dollar. That's because we only display whole numbers on a Rally total.

The amount raised — including cents — is always reflected on the Contributions spreadsheet you can download at any time from your the Contributions tab on your Rally. You'll see it as a separate line item in the spreadsheet marked as Cover Fees.

You also have the ability to download a separate spreadsheet with a more detailed breakdown of the fee structure.

This is especially helpful if you are an organization responsible for disbursing funds. You will also notice a  column marked ‘Net Amount’ which shows how much of each contribution is deposited into your bank account.
